I have been trying to be more adventurous with my fashion and stepping out of my monochrome comfort zone. As Spring is upon us i have been slowly updating my wardrobe which means a slight injection of colour. When i say colour i mean muted or pastel shades as bright shades are still too much for me but i feel like it is a start. Plus i am fed up of all of my friends complaining about the lack of colour in my wardrobe. However i must admit that i didn't think shoes were going to be the way in which i got my out of my black and white rut.
The other day i was walking around town on my lunch break and i saw two pairs of court shoes in the window of Aldo, one pair pastel blue and the other pastel pink. The minute i saw them i fell in love and i really wanted a pair but i wasn't sure how much i would wear them. Then last Friday night i was going out for a few drinks with my friends after work and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to get some new shoes and the pastel ones immediately came to mind. I've never shopped in Aldo before so i'm not sure what the price of the shoes is like but i assumed they would be a bit more expensive than i wanted to pay. So i did the only thing that someone with a small budget does and went to Primark.
Primark shoes are very hit and miss plus i find a lot of them look good but they are so uncomfortable it wasn't even worth it but when i was looking at the heels i noticed the pastel pink ones which are in the picture and i knew i had to have them. After lusting after the Aldo ones for days i knew that if i went with the Primark ones even if they aren't as comfy they are a fraction of price also if i am not brave enough to wear them that often then it doesn't matter. Turns out the Primark pair were £9 so i immediately found a size 4 and took them to the till. (I also bought a patent nude pair in the same style)
They are an easy way of wearing a little bit of colour but they would be no good for clubbing because they are pastel, the minute something is dropped on them they will look horrible which is why i didn't want to spend too much money on them. These shoes will be reserved for fancy shopping, lunch dates and casual drinks, basically anywhere where they can't get too dirty. I must admit i am yet to wear them outside of my house but i am determined to wear them somewhere. In the picture i am wearing them with my white jeans and quite a plain top so that they can provide the colour to the outfit. The little bit of heel keeps them classy and also stops the colour from looking too tacky, if they were this colour in a pair of flats i probably wouldn't like them as much.
If you are looking for a way to add colour to your wardrobe maybe you should consider getting some coloured shoes. Pastel is always popular during the Spring period so this is a great route to take if you too are stuck in your monochrome ways.
