Take a moment to think about how you use your social media. When you’re not posting photos yourself, do you scroll through your feed out of curiosity, to see if something new catches your eye? Let’s face facts, it takes 5 seconds to impress someone especially in this digital age. So, you better have the most fascinating photo or video on earth. Otherwise, you will just end up with egg on your face.

Of course, for me the moment I stop and like or comment on a photo is when it has a unique charm that fascinates me. In a world, full of people trying too hard to be like everyone else, people miss out on being an individual. If someone does something unusual it immediately catches my interest. That, and I am a massive lover of a classic style. Not only can you get a lot of use out of a timeless piece, but you can have it for years to come. And always find a time to take it out and wear it for that awesome occasion.

A lot of people purchase things because of influencers. However, there’s another trend we’ve started to take note of since it has been popping up on everyone’s feeds. Though, I wouldn’t really call a wrap dress a “trend” mainly because it is a classic style that just came back to the mainstream of fashion. It has been in style for years. Just like the little black dress, it seems the little wrap dress is having its moment for 2019.

Although it is often claimed that Diane von Furstenberg ‘invented’ the wrap dress in 1970s, Richard Martin, a former curator of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, noted that the form of Furstenberg’s design had already been “deeply embedded into the American designer sportswear tradition,” with her choice of elastic, synthetic fabrics distinguishing her work from earlier wrap dresses.

Furstenberg’s interpretation of the wrap dress, which was consistently knee-length, in a clingy jersey material, with long sleeves, was so popular and so distinctive that the style has generally become associated with her. She has stated that her divorce inspired the design, and also suggested it was created in the spirit of enabling women to enjoy sexual freedom. In 2004 a book dedicated to Furstenberg’s wrap dress was published.

The wrap dress is a dress with a front closure formed by wrapping one side across the other, and knotting the attached ties that wrap around the back at the waist or fastening buttons. This forms a V-shaped neckline and hugs the wearers body. It is such a classic style, that has been adopted by every single brand around the world.

What makes this dress even more irresistible, is the idea you have so many colours, patterns, solids, fabrics, to choose from. With spring and summer already here, you can pick something light and delicate. While saving a night on the town for a more viper exterior.
I have never been a fan of all trends, but I will say I am loving an ever-green item coming back into the spotlight.
