The mystery of the lost Dove scent: white orchid or white lotus?

I don't know if I'm alone at this, but years ago, the Dove Fine Silk hand wash used to have an amazing scent to it. It was the only reason why I bought it because it was reasonably expensive for a hand soap. I kept bying it until one day I noticed it didn't come with that amazing scent anymore, even when the bottle still said it contained "white orchid extract".

Although it said this, the soap didn't smell of anything anymore, and I stopped buying it. But now and then I would be walking somewhere and all of a sudden I would smell that tropical warm scent again. Because it wasn't a familiar flower scent like frangipani I didn't even suspect it would be a flower smell.

But a few day ago I randomly bought a shower gel from a brand I had never bought something from before: Therme. Therme is a drugstore cosmetics brand that specialises in the "pampering" field. They make luxurious smelling shower gels, spa like scrubs, and natural looking deodorants. They've been out there for years and I've always ignored them. Then suddenly I was attracted to their White Lotus Silk Shower gel. It must have been the fact that I was in need of some pampering. Besides, it was only 5 euros.

When I came home and showered I couldn't believe that this was the scent I had been looking for for years... I quickly got another bottle for my other place because I never want anything else again! Apparently the smell I had been looking for is the smell of white lotus! I didn't even know that lotus flowers had such amazing scents!

So if you're looking for a warm, tropical, luxurious scented shower gel, go for the White Lotus by Therme. The scent comes in a small line as well, including a rice scrub scented with white lotus.

Update 5/02/14: I opened a bottle of the Dove Silk Shower gel at the store today to smell it and I could swear it had that gorgeous original "silk smell" I had been looking for. So not the hand gel! The shower gel! I bought and I washed myself with it but it didn't smell as intense as the cream hand wash :'( but it's something!
