Hair Ink Salon in York is hosting a 'Summer Bash and Cut-a-Thon' on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., with all proceeds going to York County Children's Advocacy Center.
The event will include a barbecue cookout, a raffle for a large flat-screen TV, gift bag giveaways and the 'cut-a-thon,' where Hair Ink Salon owner Brandon Corbitt and four other stylists will cut hair for donations.
There will also be events for children such as face painting, balloons, a bouncy house, snow cones, cotton candy and games.
Corbitt said his own traumatic childhood motivated him to raise money to help children.
'I had been looking to do a charity event,' Corbitt said, 'but I wanted to do something I could relate to.'
The advocacy center's website states that their mission is 'to reduce the trauma of child abuse investigations; foster professional collaboration and cooperation; and provide education and advocacy regarding the prevention of child abuse within the community.'
Hair Ink Salon is located at 1240 Woodberry Road in York.
